LICSW

Hello! My name is Jo Brown. I would like to offer you a warm welcome in locating the therapist that resonates with you. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have been so since the year 2003. I have worked with many clients over the years from the age of 8 years old and all the way to working with a client who reached the age of 106 years old. Most importantly I am here to actively listen to your concerns. Developing a relationship with you to understand fully what brought you to taking the brave step to engage in therapy to heal, learn new skills and techniques to pursue your lifetime goal of reaching your highest human and spiritual potential.

The Social Work Mission is to believe in and work toward: service, social justice, the dignity and worth of every person, maintain the belief in the importance of human relationships, integrity, and maintain professional competence. In a consistent attempt to stand by my ultimate mission I have worked with individuals suffering from symptoms of anxiety, depression, Bi-polar disorder-all of which sometimes include substance use, family conflict in many forms, as well as individuals and their families in dealing with anticipatory grief, grief, and eventually death.

It is my personal belief that each client (and family) is the expert on what specifically they would like to work on while in therapy. Where you are now and where you would like to be at the conclusion of your therapy. I want to collaborate with you on developing your treatment goals and which evidenced-based therapy or therapies you would like to use in order to reach your goals in order to live a fulfilling life.

I prefer to utilize Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (don’t worry I will explain), Grief Therapy or a combination of one or several of these evidenced-based therapy approaches.

I am a Northwest Native. I adore the rain-especially hearing it on the roof! I do not own an umbrella-hey-this is Seattle and we get wet!! I rode horses in my childhood and love their velvet noses and their smell is unforgettable and soothing. I adore all cats and dogs. I have hiked and snowshoed many strenuous hilltops, I gave golfing a whole hearted attempt, I am a water lover also and paddle boarding is my favorite. My spiritual practice and prayer are vital to my own mental health. Most of all is love, I love my family more than words can express.
