Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Claire is currently a Master of Social Work intern from the University of Utah. Claire believes strongly in the innate worth and infinite potential present in all humans and believes that therapy should be a place without judgment where the client feels completely safe, seen, and supported as they take the steps to lead a life more in alignment with their values and desires. Her approach is client-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based, founded on the belief that each individual is the expert in their own life.
Claire’s work is grounded in empathy, mindfulness, and enhancing emotional regulation and is trauma-informed. She specializes in working with children, teens, young adults, and their families as they navigate issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation and self-harm, lack of motivation, life transitions, as well as attachment and relationship struggles. She has extensive experience working with students and parents in a high school setting, helping individuals to overcome their emotional and situational obstacles to improve their school performance and well-being. She has a deep respect for the therapeutic relationship, as it is one of the most important elements of the healing process, and values connecting with clients in an authentic, compassionate manner.
Claire holds a B.S. in Sociology from Brigham Young University, where she gained a deep understanding of how systems and social contexts shape the individual experience and mental health. With this foundation, she centers her work on principles of social justice advocacy, intersectionality, and empowerment. She has a special place in her heart for LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse youth, as she has spent the last 3 years working with and supporting these populations as both a student support advocate for high school students and as a social work intern at Encircle. Claire also has experience helping children and parents who are navigating the child welfare system to overcome trauma, forge a healthy attachment style, and strengthen positive parenting and family relationships. Claire is committed to providing compassionate, holistic, and evidence-based care to help every client feel empowered and understood.
With his schooling in marriage and family therapy from St. Mary’s University, Jonathan has enjoyed helping clients since 2007. Jonathan has experienced grief and loss and understands the importance of hearing and understanding. He began to understand the importance of genuine connection in couples therapy when a friend of his shared his experience working to strengthen his relationship with his partner. Jonathan has been trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and EMDR therapy; he also includes many principles found in the Gottman Method, which works well with couples. We all battle bad habits, and Jonathan works together with clients to help them work toward their goals while honoring their dreams. His professional experience includes individual, couples, and family therapy in various settings, such as school districts and university mental health clinics, as well as nonprofit organizations.
Jonathan finds it meaningful to help clients better understand their inherent value and self-worth. He is confident in his skills in treating issues involving trauma, family conflict, grief, marital and premarital issues, parenting, peer relationships, sexually compulsive behaviors, trafficking victims, relationship issues, self-harm, and spirituality. He enjoys providing an inclusive environment for all diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Jonathan understands the importance of applying the wisdom you have received from others, including from your personal spirituality.
Throughout his life, Jonathan has appreciated many aspects of music and its influence on the human heart and mind. He's interested in sharing meaning, strength, and trust that can be built via music. Occasionally, he will paint something. Jonathan also listens to some inspiring words shared by family, a friend, or other people he trusts. Although very picky with choosing podcasts, he has enjoyed a variety of genuine storytellers covering musical, social, spiritual, cultural, and many other interesting and some challenging topics. Jonathan also enjoys driving, being with loved ones, and listening to someone inspiring and/or engaging.
