Sierra Balfour

Sierra Balfour earned her master’s degree in social work from Utah Valley University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Liberty University, graduating magna cum laude. During her education she worked in a residential treatment center for female adolescents addressing complex trauma, neglect, and substance abuse. She also worked with a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients using experiential therapy, with horses as part of her client sessions. Sierra came to Meadowbrook Counseling with over 10 years of experience in human service roles as an advocate for people with diagnosed disabilities, certified nursing assistant, childcare worker, and a self-defense instructor. Sierra has completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

 

Sierra strives to create an environment where her clients feel safe and supported no matter what they are experiencing. She understands that life is hard, and that change can be scary. Her desire is to help people heal from past experiences, strengthen their relationships, challenge their thinking, discover their strengths, become empowered, and realize their potential. Sierra believes in the importance of self-compassion, self-acceptance, and inner peace. Sierra has worked with numerous clients with complex trauma, childhood sexual abuse, and relationship struggles. She has developed therapeutic skills that address childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse, women's issues, and life transitions.

Sierra is known for her big heart, work ethic, warm personality, and creativity. Outside of work Sierra loves working on her personal growth, scuba diving, spending time with her pets, traveling the world, and sky diving.
