Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a Mental Health Counseling Intern, working toward a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern New Hampshire University. Before pursuing a degree in counseling, I graduated and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, as well as a Master's Degree in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology, both from Southern New Hampshire University. Throughout my time in the mental health and social service fields, I've had the opportunity to meet and work with individuals across diverse cultural backgrounds and populations. I've had the opportunity to work in a wide range of environments, offering support for individuals experiencing challenges and distress related to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, and adverse life experiences.
My approach to counseling puts the client in the driver's seat. I understand that the client is the expert of their own experiences, and I work with my clients to explore their experiences through individual, familial, and societal contexts to gain a better understanding of their behavioral and emotional responses in life. I embrace a holistic approach to counseling, supporting clients in identifying and understanding physical, mental, and emotional symptoms through the integrated use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I work with my clients to explore the root of their distress and collaborate with them to identify actionable steps toward understanding, acceptance, and inner peace.
My focus is on building and establishing a trusting and therapeutic relationship by creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to share vulnerably. I foster connections through compassion, authenticity, and open communication. I support my clients in self-growth by offering supportive coping skills, encouraging exploration through self-awareness, and providing empowerment.
