CMHC-I

It is so important for you to be witnessed, encouraged, and valued on your journey of survival and growth. I would like to offer you a space where you can safely express yourself, and where you and I can work collaboratively to help you connect with your innate ability to guide your journey in a positive, meaningful way. I am currently obtaining my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) from the University of Phoenix.

My therapeutic approach is based in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which includes tools utilized in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I operate from a trauma informed care standpoint, and I have experience with motivational interviewing (MI). I like to offer tools, resources, and education that are presented in a warm, client-centered way that meets the needs of each client at their individual level. I strive to be culturally aware, and I love to learn about people and their relationship to culture.

I have worked with the department of child and family services (DCFS). I have worked in permanent supportive housing for those living with serious mental illness (SMI), facing homelessness and dealing with addiction. My most recent experience has been with teenage males living in a behavioral health hospital, working on trauma and behavioral concerns. I enjoy working with a wide variety of ages, dealing with a wide variety of concerns, which could include anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, boundary concerns, and more.

I love to spend time with my husband and my four cats, and it's not difficult to find me laughing and adding humor to life, as sometimes it is the best medicine for the moment.
