In my mind, the ideal client is a person who has recognized that some aspect of their life is no longer working for them. That person wants help to get their life back on track. I enjoy helping a variety of clientele, including couples and individuals. People who seek out a counselor to validate the fact that change is necessary, and desire professional help to collaborate in identifying their natural strengths (or at least potential capabilities), who are working towards overcoming difficulties, and are goal-oriented, are people I'm excited to work with. I hope that my warm and inviting office atmosphere and my upbeat personality can help.
Individual work, as well as working with couples, young adults, and parent/child relationships, are my main areas of focus. I specifically address the problems in communication with others and personal negative talk. It is key to how we perceive, react, and direct our behaviors.
I have been a wife for the last 26 years, a mother to three grown children. I have two dogs that I just love. I live in Provo, and currently work at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital during the day as an adolescent therapist. I was a police officer at the Utah State Hospital for 5 years. I finished up my undergraduate degree from UVU in Psychology in May 2015. I then went to Touro Worldwide University and also Northcentral University to get my two Masters degrees; one in Master's of Psychology in August 2017 and the other in Marriage and Family Therapy in October 2019. I love being able to help anyone willing to place their trust in me with the mental health issues that they are currently experiencing. I like to explore new places, and I would love to travel one day with my husband. I have many hobbies that keep me busy: cross-stitch, needlepoint, Quilting, Applique, Knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and the number one thing that I love to do is be with my grandsons. Sometimes it can be hard to get my hobbies in with work. However, this has all been worth the time and learning I have gained over the last few years.
