Dominick Allen
I’m Dominick Allen, Dom for short if you prefer. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in grief, trauma work, and chronic illness. It is also important to me that I connect with the queer community, in which I am a part of, and the many intersectionalities within this. I am originally from Nevada, having lived all over the state, and then spent some years in Portland, Oregon, before settling here in Bothell. Prior to my focus on mental health, I explored the legal, medical, and systems worlds of social work, as I find importance in being well-rounded before exploring someone’s connection to themselves, others, and this world.
I integrate many approaches in grief and trauma work based on an individual’s specific needs, requests, and through collaborative and transparent discussion. Working together to provide education about your mental health and why I may be taking a specific approach helps each of us come together in communication and really get to the tough stuff. Something that I aim for is to have a direct approach while still respecting someone’s personhood. I encourage ongoing dialogue rather than it being a one-sided experience of only one of us speaking. Please show up ready for some engaging, but at times difficult, conversations.
I am a humanistic therapist who focuses on grief and trauma-informed therapies. Modalities I often lean on are CBT incorporated into my basic language, EFT concepts, IFS, ACT, DBT Skills for Emotional Regulation, Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Grief Therapy.
