I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). I hold an MS in Inclusive Adolescence Education and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I was previously an educator in both classroom and experiential settings, and young people remain a continuing focus in my clinical work. I work with children ages 8 and older, and adults of all ages. Client needs I address especially well include relational issues, teens & young adults, parenting, school & occupational stressors, ADHD/ASD & neurodivergence, men's issues, spiritual & religious struggles, ecological & climate-related distress, and facing uncertainty, loss, or other big life adjustments.
My clinical perspective starts from a humanistic approach to client concerns and strengths, while also recognizing systemic, ecological, and cultural realities. Work focuses on solutions to help you feel better here and now, while also finding existential space for exploring how to live well over time. I have training and experience within CBT and TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, spiritually-integrated psychotherapy, interpersonal and relational-cultural therapy, nature-adjunctive therapies, and eye-movement reprocessing. All approaches are trauma-informed and neurobiologically-informed; I keep up on research and often use it to guide client care and provide psychoeducation. I draw from a few other orientations depending on client needs, and all clients can expect a warm, collaborative approach that starts wherever they are.
I grew up all over in a military family, and have lived in 10 different states and overseas. I am a proud Vandal and now live in the Magic Valley with my family. When not at work, you will likely find me outside and very possibly engaged in one of the following: cooking, biking, hiking, gardening, climbing, reading, foraging, looking for cool rocks, listening to post-rock, brewing, working on old-house projects, or maybe, just maybe, sitting around doing nothing.
