Therapy Types

Group Therapy

A therapy format where a small group of people meets with one or more therapists to work on a shared focus.

Group therapy gathers a small number of people, usually with one or two facilitating therapists, to work on a shared focus such as anxiety, grief, or building social skills. Hearing others describe similar struggles can ease feelings of isolation, and practicing new skills with peers can be a powerful complement to individual work. Group agreements about confidentiality and respect help create a safer space.
