Postpartum Depression

A form of depression that can show up after the birth of a child and goes beyond typical short-term mood changes.

Postpartum depression is a form of depression that can show up after the birth of a child. It is more intense and longer-lasting than the short-term mood changes many parents notice in the first weeks. It can include sadness, anxiety, irritability, exhaustion that does not lift with rest, and difficulty bonding. Support is available, and reaching out early can make recovery easier.
