Psychiatrist

A medical doctor who specializes in mental health and can prescribe medication.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who specializes in mental health. Psychiatrists can diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, and coordinate medical aspects of care. Many people see a psychiatrist for medication management while doing therapy with a separate licensed therapist.
