Licensed Therapist

A mental health professional who has completed required education, training, and licensing to provide therapy.

A licensed therapist is a mental health professional who has completed the education, supervised training, and exams required by their state to legally provide therapy. Licensure is a baseline credential; specific licenses (such as LCSW, LMFT, or CMHC) describe the kind of training a clinician has completed.
