Therapy Types

Parenting Therapy

Counseling that helps parents respond more effectively to their child's needs and to the demands of parenting itself.

Parenting therapy focuses on the adults raising a child rather than primarily on the child. A therapist helps caregivers understand a child's behavior in context, build consistent and responsive routines, repair after hard moments, and care for their own well-being so they can show up the way they want to. It is often paired with child therapy or family counseling.
